The Alley of the Katyń Oaks was established in 2010 in order to commemorate the casualties of Polish Golgotha of the East. The path begins at a monument with an image of Our Lady of Katyń, the coat of arms of Stare Babice and a badge of the Association of Polish Officers of the Reserve, who funded the monument. 29 trees were planted here to commemorate Polish people murdered in the Eastern Borderlands, Polish soldiers killed in the forests of Katyń and the casualties of the crash of the president’s plane in Smoleńsk. Among others, individual trees are dedicated to i.a. presidents Lech Kaczyński and Ryszard Kaczorowski, secretary general of the Council for the Protection of Struggle and Martyrdom Sites Andrzej Przewoźnik, warrant officer of Polish Police Józef Wolak shot by the NKVD in 1940 in Twer, director of the Arms Depot in Toruń major Jan Filipek shot in 1940 in Katyń, commandant of the field hospital in Tarnopol brigadier general Stefan Mozołowski shot in 1940 in Charków and people who vanished without trace in the East.
