On the southeastern edge of the Kampinos National Park we can find a military cemetery of Polish Army soldiers established in 1939. In autumn 1939 720 soldiers of the “Poznań” and “Pomorze” armies who died while trying to enter Warsaw during the battle of Bzura (the battle took place between 9th and 22nd September 1939) were buried here. Then, during the occupation, it also became the resting place for soldiers fighting in the combat diversion units of the Home Army and then participants of the Warsaw uprising fighting in the Home Army group “Kampinos”. There’s a total of 837 people resting at the military cemetery in Laski. A marble plaque at the entrance to the necropolis says: “They all together gave their lives in the defense of their homeland against the German invader. Many have no names but they all live in our hearts and memory”. The cemetery is currently under the care of the heritage conservator based on the entry in the monuments register of 17th May 1994.
