Dwór Pilaszków

Borzęcin Duży ul. Nowowiejska 137

Description

The first owner of Pilaszków known by his name was a knight Grzegorz of Pielszków, father of Chwalibóg, who was mentioned in 1359 as a student of the university in French Avignon. Five of the local nobles participated in the battle of Chocim in 1621. The Pilaszkowski family (they assumed their name after the place at the end of the medieval period) remained the owners of part of the village at least until 1717. In the second half of the 18th century the properties in Pilaszków were owned by the Gosiarowski and Ogiński families, including prince Andrzej Ignacy Ogiński, father of the composer Michał Kleofas Ogiński, author of the famous polonaise Farewell to Homeland. In the second half of the 1780s Pilaszków was purchased by Filip Antonio Campioni, an emigrant from Verona, a supplier of Italian nuts and other sweetmeats, i.a. to the king’s court. In 1803 the Ryx family (its best-known representative was Franciszek, butler of Stanisław August Poniatowski) purchased the property from his heirs. It was probably the Ryx family who constructed the masoned manor that exists today. It is worth noting that it was here that worthily hosted Jan Henryk Dąbrowski received his nomination to the rank of general. After 1860 the land changed owners several times – from 1892 the landlord was the constructor of the Poniatowski Bridge in Warsaw – engineer Mieczysław Marszewski. During his time there, the manor was extended with side wings. The property remained the possession of the Marszewski family until 1945. During the ww2, i.a. the wife of general Tadeusz Bór Komorowski found refuge here. During the period of the Polish People’s Republic, the employees of a state farm lived in the residence of the former owners. The building severely deteriorated. In the 1980s, after the entire land was purchased by the Central Association of Dairy Cooperatives, the manor was reconstructed. In the 1990s the property was purchased by the Catholic Church from its receivers – the development was the responsibility of priest Edward Sobieraj. On the foundations of the manor’s structures, a Care and Treatment Facility was established. The manor itself is definitely worth visiting because since 1995 there has been a Museum of Polish Manors there and in the nearby pavilions – Museum of Horse-Drawn Vehicles (its establishment in 2003 was part of priest Sobieraj’s initiative).
