Near a bus terminal in Hornówek, on a small square there is a boulder with a commemorative plaque. In front of the modest monument there is a flowerbed and sometimes burning lights can be seen. Their presence indicates that for the residents of Izabelin, the memory of a brutal murder that was committed here during Second World War is still alive. In the summer of 1944, probably as a result of a tip, German occupational forces learnt of two members of the guerrilla units – 21-year-old Kazimierz and only 16-year-old Edmund Gleszczyński. Both young men were arrested and executed in September 1944. A common practice of Gestapo and the German gendarmerie which aimed at threatening the people and discouraging them from conspiratory activity was using collective responsibility in such cases. And that time was no different. After the execution of the two guerrillas, the remaining residents of their family home were taken outside, including children. The parents of Kazimierz and Edmund – Maria and Kazimierz Gleszczyński along with 15-year-old Anna, 12-year-old Maria and 8-year-old Honorata and 7-year-old Janusz were all shot. Their house was burned down.
