A roadside shrine with a statue of Blessing Christ is standing on Fabryczna street in Józefów in front of the entry road to the facilities of the former Sugar Plant and Refinery “Józefów” established in 1866 by the Przeworski family (currently the place is occupied by the Mazovia Spirits and Yeast Industry “POLMOS S.A.”). The shrine is made of sandstone and limestone. A natural-size statue of Christ was placed on a four-walled pedestal with an inscription: “Come to Me, All Who Work. Cap. Mat. XI 28” in the front and “XXV / 1865-1890” at the back of the shrine. According to the latter, the structure was funded in 1980 for the 25th anniversary…here opinions vary. Some claim the intention was to commemorate the establishment of the plant which is indicated by the quote from the Wujek Bible, others say that it commemorated the ending of the January uprising. The author of the shrine was Bolesław Syrewicz, a well-known sculptor, author of i.a. a dozen of monuments at the Powązki Cemetery. In recent years the shrine has been renovated from the funds of the local government.
