Miejsce Pamięci Narodowej w Borzęcinie Dużym

Borzęcin Duży ul. Warszawska

Description

Monument of National Remembrance located at the corner of the Warszawska and Spacerowa streets in Borzęcin Duży commemorates Polish Army soldiers who were killed during the ww2 as well as civilian victims of the Hitlerian occupation from Borzęcin Duży and nearby towns. Local residents particularly well remember the events of the 13th of September 1939 when 20 people from Umiastów and Topolin were shot by firing squads, and of the 8th of August 1944 when, after an assault of insurgents on a German weapons depot, 49 people were shot. These and other victims from among the residents of Borzęcin and its vicinity are commemorated by the place of National Remembrance designed by Ewelina Bagińska and formally unveiled on the 26th of October 2009. Those involved in the works of the monument’s construction committee included i.a. priest from the parish of St. Wincenty of Ferrara and a nearby Society of African Missions as well as local councilmen. The commemorative plaque says: FOR SOLDIERS OF THE POLISH ARMY / RESIDENTS OF BORZĘCIN AND ITS VICINITY / WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES / FOR THIS LAND’S FREEDOM / ON THE 70TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE SECOND WORLD WAR / A.D. 2009 / RESIDENTS AND THE MUNICIPALITY OF STARE BABICE”.
