The manor house called “Poniatówka” is from the turn of the 18th and 19th century, the time when the town was part of the Błonie starosty and belonged to Prince Józef Poniatowski. The subsequent owners of the property were the noble families of Górski, Potocki, Zyberk-Plater, Walewski and Olszewski. After 1945 the building housed a middle school and a high school. In the 1980s as a result of the initiative of the Society of Friends of the Błonie Land, the building was put in the registry of monuments and then renovated and intended for the Culture Centre and the residence of the International Association of Home Army Soldiers. The building was the place of operation for numerous artistic interest clubs, dance groups as well as a place of organization for concerts, lectures, tale-telling, poetry evenings, meetings with writers, painting exhibitions as well as other events of national or regional nature. In 2010 the Culture Centre moved to the modern building and “Poniatówka” started to be adapted to perform the function of the Błonie Land Museum. The formal opening of the establishment took place on May 17th 2018. The museum visitors were able to see a permanent exhibition, prepared from the ground up, telling the history of Błonie from the pre-history until modern times. The town itself was located at the crossing of important trade routes which led from Mazowsze towards Wielkopolska. Within the area of the settlement there was an early-Piast prince castle, a collegiate church, it was a place of operation for land courts, shoemakers, brewers and tailor workshops and a Jewish community. The narrative character of the exhibition is supposed to familiarize the residents of Błonie with the history of their “little homeland” and through the presentation of historical objects (tiles, dishes, jewellery, coins, documents, paintings, posters, photographs) gives an opportunity to commune with artefacts of the past. The content is supplemented by multimedia touch panels with reproductions of works of art, historical maps and short films explaining the issues of social, political or religious phenomena which occurred in the land of Błonie in the past. The museum building also houses events related to promoting culture and national heritage as well as temporary exhibitions.
