The municipality park in Stare Babice was established with the intention to create three zones important for the region’s residents. The first is a representative zone, the heart of which is a small amphitheatre. 2016 was the year of inauguration of its Summer Stage – the events organized here throughout the entire summer include theatre performances, concerts, comedy shows as well as film shows. The second zone is intended for leisure of the region’s residents who can relax in a rose garden or near the river. In 2017 the park in Babice was awarded the main prize in the “Public space in greenery” category in the XII edition of the competition organized by the Society of Polish Urbanists and Polish Towns Association. The third zone is an area of physical activity concentrated around an open-air gym. On the 20th of December 2018, as part of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of regaining independence by Poland, a sculpture showing the duel between Michał Wołodyjowski and Bohun was unveiled in the park in Babice. It was a reminder of the relation between the writer Henryk Sienkiewicz and the land of Babice – in the novel “Ogniem I Mieczem”, that legendary duel took place in the nearby Lipków, near the mansion where Sienkiewicz’s father-in-law, Kazimierz Szetkiewicz, lived in the 19th century.
